Regular Admission appointments 2025

What was the interview like? Just curious because I have mine next week.
Not bad at all. It was my last of 7 (USAFA, USAFA nom, USNA, USNA nom x2, NROTC and finally USCGA) so I had my answers pretty well articulated and refined. Be prepared to talk about a specific extracurricular that you are most proud of doing and how you have experienced diversity and how you benefitted from it. Obviously you will have to explain why you want to go to the coast guard academy and I would suggest you mention specifically why you want to be a coast guard officer. At the end the ask you how willing you are to accept an appointment if you get one. I would seriously suggest being honest and telling them if it is your first choice SA or school in general. If this is honestly your #1, like it is mine, they should be able to tell that from your answers during the interview. These interviewers are extremely intelligent, so they can likely tell if you are being honest about how likely you are to accept an appointment so again, I would recommend just being honest.

PM me if you have any more questions and I would be happy to answer them as best I can, but I am just an applicant after all.

My DS finished his AP back in December. He never attended AIM - he received the email stating his file would be up for review within 2 weeks. He was never contacted for an interview, don’t know if that’s a good thing or not.
My son did not attend AIM and did not receive an interview, I was wondering the same...hopefully we will all here something soon. He wants this so bad he didn’t apply anywhere else!

Thank you for the detailed answer. I believe I saw an interview sheet in format of these questions. They look fairly similar to the nomination interviews imo.

My ds applied regular admission in the beginning of January. On February 8th he received an email that his file would be up for review before the board in the next two weeks. Same day he received a request for an interview which was last Monday via phone. He hasn't heard anything back yet or seen any updates on his portal. He is anxiously waiting.

Last year most RA applicants found out in their portal on April 1st. Many were offered the waiting list. They said expect to hear around May 1, then May 15, then June 1. I think he finally heard that the wait list was closed around June 10th. USCGA was his number 1 but he's at USNA and is so happy there. Things happen for a reason!

Has anyone that applied Regular Admission to the USCGA class of 2025 received an appointment yet?
I only stated the whole process of considering something other that ROTC in August '20. THE USCGA is the only academy I am pursuing. I didn't get my application in until January.
App status on Bear's Den now says its ready for review.
I received the notifications to schedule for DoDMERB the first week of February.
I imediately scheduled and have now completed both vision and physical exams, with zero issues.
I am now waiting and hoping for an interview.

Have the regular appointments gone out. Our DS was wait listed last year and then it closed. Sure would be nice to hear soon!

A few weeks ago, my son’s admissions officer told him that the only thing she could tell him was that he’d hear by April 1st. So, we could be waiting another few weeks.

Was told the same here on "the only thing she could tell him was that he’d hear by April 1st. So, we could be waiting another few weeks."

My impression is recruited athletes and legacy academy applicants (parents are service academy grads or retired officers) move to the front of the line on early admissions. Then after the appointed candidates declines happen after May 1, the order of merit goes deeper into the pool. Just my impressions after monitoring this board.

I submitted my app in mid Jan, and I still haven’t received an email from DoDMERB ( I’m qualified for both USAFA and USMMA). I emailed my AO last week and she said I could receive a conditional appointment if they don’t have my medical in by the time they make a decision. Does anyone know why it takes so long for DoDMERB to send me an email?

You should only have to go through the DoDMERB process once. USCGA doesn't have the biggest budget of the SAs so if another Academy starts the DoDMERB process, they're happy to look at it. The difference comes if you need a waiver. Each SA has their own waivers. I hope this helps.
