Regular Admission appointments 2025

Good to know. But how did you know my son has ROTC, is a Texan, etc? (that's a lot of info) Just curious...are you aligned with TSU?
I didn't know any of that other than the Texas part from your handle. The rest was just a suggestion.

On the DODMERB tricare page, went to check on medical exam and the update says waiting on receipt of exams but son did this Feb 9th, all 3 exams. .. Is that normal or does this need to be checked on.

Prior to getting reviewed and finalized with DoDMERB one's exam process has to complete DoDMETS (managed by CIV Team where they schedule, track and review exam notes for completeness) so check the status there first, and if its unclear call them (CIV Team). They are incredibly responsive. A live person actually answers. Ask if they can check you status, or if they can connect you with the person handling your case.

thanks. found out the medical examiner didn't sign page 9 of the forms and they are just waiting on that.. Thanks for the info.

I believe the first prep school appointments will be made tomorrow as Admiral Kelly visits NAPS.

Do all students that attend prep and complete the year successfully receive an appointment? How many students does the academy send to prep each year?

About 60-70 people get sent to prep each year. If you attain the appropriate academic level and have no behavioral problems then you should receive an appointment; hence it being called a ‘golden ticket’. My understanding is that not all the scholars attending NAPS will receive their appointments tomorrow. Normally each year a few from each prep school receive early appointments and the rest will get theirs during graduation week.

Here's a passage from the current year's Coast Guard Academy Scholar (CGAS) Program Handbook.

We will review each Scholar’s file at mid-term and at the end of each term. For those attending MMI, if you do not achieve a minimum GPA of 2.0 in your core classes or receive an F in any of your core courses (English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics) during the first term you will be considered for removal from the program. If you are attending GMC or NAPS, which operate on a trimester system, and do not obtain a minimum GPA (cumulative) of 2.25 in your core courses or receive an F in any of your core classes (English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics) through completion of the second trimester you will be considered for removal from the program. Coast Guard Academy early appointments may be offered in the spring. Scholars with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and higher will be offered appointments, provided they meet all other requirements. Scholars with a GPA between 2.5 and 3.0 will be reviewed by Admissions personnel for appointment consideration. Scholars falling below a 2.5 cumulative GPA in their core courses (English, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics) will not be offered an appointment.

My DS got an email that his review board was back in early February for his application. but in the Bears Den check list, they have never check marked his application evaluation was completed. The last check mark box on the list... Does this mean it didn't get reviewed or he will not have a chance at an appointment?

From what I’ve read that last box doesn’t always get checked...appointment or not. Best of luck!

Ignore the checkboxes they don’t always get completed and if they do it is often long after the event as actually happened.

Ok, Thanks.. I'm assuming they did the evaluation since they sent him to Dodmerb.. That is also taking forever to get a status on.. He checked out perfectly fine but still says they are waiting on receipt of exam.

I would chase that through with the CIV team.
