When will we be hearing from USCGA for Regular Admission Class of 2023? Will they do rolling admissions or will everyone hear from them on April 1?

Curious ... what's the time span experience between when the Admission Checklist shows Status Application Complete - Ready for Review and the next Checklist Status of Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board Review Complete?

It wont change until the admission decision is released - when it is released the box will be checked and there will be a link to your decision letter.

No more rolling admission. Everyone will hear by April 1.

Where did you get this information? The Applicant Handbook says:

"All applications received after the Early Action (October 15th) deadline will be reviewed in order of completion. Regular Admission applicants must submit all required application items by January 4th and will be notified of a decision no later that April 1st." (Page 2)

The wording: "in order of completion" makes me wonder if it will be rolling admission.

Just a thought, I really do not know. I am curious as to where you heard this though!

Thanks.

Sorry did not word that right. Our DS is already attending USCGA. I spoke to admissions and they said as of this year they are NO longer doing rolling admissions.

Everyone will find out at the same time for regular admissions just like they did for EA.

The Board for Early Action met in December and has already issued appointments, automatic deferrals for Regular Admissions, or Denials. The Regular Board is supposed to meet for all "Board Ready" applicants in late February and then again in late March with notifications sent out beginning or April.

Have any of you who applied regular done your DoDMERB or interview yet?

I was deferred to regular admission after applying for early action. DoDMERB qualified and I completed my interview the other day. Just waiting to hear now.

My DS was told that rolling admissions were not happening this year. Everyone gets to wait and turn into an nut case until April. Our DS even called a contact in Admissions and she couldn't tell him anything. I almost wish our twins just accepted their college scholarships then went to OCS or Direct Commissioning rather than be stressed for so long because they both are.

My DS has completed everything and is 3Q just waiting. He did not apply anywhere else academy wise. Wanted CGA and only CGA. Plan "B", he will go full scholarship to the University of New Orleans because they have probably the best non-military Naval Architecture/Naval Engineering Program in the country and have a placement rate of 100% coming out of the program. If that's the route he must take, then he will apply to CG OCS after getting his degree.

I am interested - what are his pros and cons for not planning to re-apply for 2024 should he not get into 2023? I am not as familiar with USCGA re-applicant philosophy.

As it stands right now Ma'am, he does not have plans to re-apply. Once he is in the UNO program, he is immediately assigned to co-op programs within the maritime industry and projects for university research. I do not think he would be willing to give up more than he is now in terms of college credit. By going to the CGA he is giving up what amounts to almost 60 college credits, which would mean he has the possibility to bypass most of the required general education courses. If he were to re-apply he would lose another year, and also the credits, so if the CGA does not want him now, he will move on and try for OCS after graduation.

I talked to my admissions counselor recently and they said that interviews are no longer optional and “If the board requires amplifying information, they will contact you.”

You are quite welcome Ma'am. Still holding out hope...:) Our other DS (twins) is hoping for USMA, but if not, he has both a full academic as well as 4yr AROTC to Stetson University (he want to be a lawyer). Hopefully we have covered our bases with both of them.
