Random question, but if 2 people are dating through USMA, what usually happens after graduation? (Both married and non-married route?) Do couples try to get stationed together or opt for LDR? Is this common?

When you get near Post Night, your Firstie year, you both will have to fill out "Intent To Marry" (ITM) paperwork. My understanding is that you both will put your Post preferences, and both cadets ranks play some role. You wont get to select a post on Post Night, but rather you will be given your post based on both cadets Post preferences, availability, rank, etc.

If not intending to marry, then you both are up to the available post slots and your individual OML rank within your branch. It is possible but less likely without the ITM.

That is a high level, and I am sure there is more nuance to it than that. Hope that helps. Perhaps others can fill in the blanks.

I watched post night last night and this seems to be in line with what I saw. They called it the "Military Families Program" and they had the couples posts sorted out ahead of time....before they got on to the business of "Post night, Draft Style" for the rest of the firsties.

Will Mary be disappointed? Feel jilted? What about “Intent to either Cloe, Margaret, or Alma”? or "Intent to Bill, George or Jose"? Firsties, don't mess up with your intent paperwork. It's not the best way to start off on one of life's major undertakings.;)

Can one fill out ITM if they plan on getting married years down the road?

No, it has to be imminent to posting timelines. Otherwise you would post separately and hope to get the same one. Once you graduate and marry later in your service, there may be options via regular Army programs to post together, but I cannot speak to that.
