Remedial-Should I be worried

My DD finally got the remedial posted and we emailed the information requested today.
She had severe cystic acne and has a lot of scarring, she has been on medication (menocyln) and currently has no acne present. Do you think we should be concerned that this will make her unqualified? We just had to send in pictures.

Also they are saying that it will take 30 days or longer to process, that puts us at the middle of March. Is this hurting her chances of getting an appointment since it is taking so long? Does it usually take them that time frame to review remedials?

Proudteachermom -- below is the link to the document DoDMERB uses to determine whther "Q" or "DQ".

Page 36 (section 22, item a.) addresses your DD's medical condition. I think the "30 days or longer" statement they gave you is a fairly standard statement regarding the medical waiver review process. The medial waiver review process can be very lengthy (weeks to months) depending on the medical issue being reviewed. There is no "set timeline" as each case is different. It is a good sign USMA asked for remedials. It means they consider your DD competitive and it usually means they are likely to offer an appointment if the medical issue can be cleared. Yes . . . sometimes the medical waiver does not come through in time for an appointment, but when that happens it seems to be for complicated medical issues . . . the medical staff is aware of the appointment timeline. Hang in there . . .

Best wishes to you and your DD and many thanks to her for being willing to serve.

Thank you for the information, this is such a tedious process and so many undecided. I was also worried if they DQ'd her if it would keep her from serving. That is her dream, back up plans all include joining the military.

I am submitting remedials and every time I submit new ones my technician tells me the same that it could take up to 30 days to process since they are in their busiest time so be patient and good luck!

One thing to note in some of the above post. USMA views her as a competitive candidate who is in the running for an appointment. I would caution against the phrase "likely to get an appointment". She is likely in the top 2-3 on her nomination slate and has a good chance. There is no way to know how competitive you actually are in your district unless your RC tells you.

This is a good caution ... However I didn't say "likely to get an appointment" ... What I meant by my phrase "usually means they are likely to offer an appointment" was a wordy way to impart probability, but not certainty.

Curious as to whether you have heard anything from DoDMERB yet, It looks like we are a day or so behind you in submitting remedial info.
