Replying to this thread everyday until an appointment/rejection

In case some of yall aren’t on the Speculating!! Same post! Good luck to all you wonderful wonderful folks still in it!!!:)

I’m 100% in favor of a TD list; this would be helpful to so many applicants, applicants and their parents. It is always better to see the real picture and know the mountain you need climb or know the mountain you climbed to get to the next opportunity (makes you more grateful and work harder to succeed at this opportunity that so many exceptional other young people didn’t have)! I will start it right here: Good luck and Go NAVY!!!

So the DS got turned down today. 😢 He found out on the bus and called me and was so disappointed. I have read so many posts on the forum from parents about how their kids have responded and wondered how he would handle it because he is so invested in going to USNA. He said,” Mom, sign me up right now for the next SAT and ACT and I am going to max everything on my CFA, and ace my college classes and reapply next year. I am going to do every leadership role they have at my NROTC unit and make sure I present a better application next year.” I started crying on the phone because I told him I was so proud of him and how he was handling it and focusing on what he can do to better himself and not get angry. When I got home and I was crying and hugging him he broke down and was so upset that he didn’t get it this year but recovered and is focusing on plan B. I told him to take the weekend to work out the pros and cons between NROTC and USAFA and make the best decision for himself. I wish everyone the best of luck that is still pending after this crazy day from admissions and hope you all see your appointments. Keep hope and if it isn’t your year, focus on plan B, keep your head up because you are amazing to even have gone through this process and you have learned resilience from it. We are all proud of you 🥰
Thank you to everyone giving advice and helping us parents through this emotional process. You have definitely helped me have the correct words to say during this process to help soften the blow that came so he was prepared in the end to not end up angry and is looking forward. I will forever be grateful ❤️ ❤️

I am so sorry Iriswhite23. This week has been so crazy. We haven't heard yet, but the chances for DD seem along the same lines. You are not alone, and I hope your DS's Plan B turns out to be amazing, just like the amazing young man you have raised. Hugs to you both. 💓

Thank you for being a part of it all. I'll never know anyone's name, but I will know your handle. I'm about the 24th person getting weepy over this. We went through it last year. There is hope, there is hard work, there are re-apps and there ARE appointments from that! Good luck to your Son and your family. I'll be looking next year.

I’m sorry to hear this news! It’s definitely a sting & takes a some time to get over. It sounds like he’s all set to give it another go! Who knows - he may love his Plan 1A so much, he’ll stay. Good luck 🍀!!
