Report times for c/o 2018 CC are in the 3rd Admissible Mailing on your portal. My DS is in the first - 6:45 am. It's going to be a long day for both of us.
I know its early, but I think the earlier the better. You'll notice your Cadet Candidate will get short with you, snippy, rude, mouthy-Don't take it personally. Its a big unknown for the whole family. Don't let it ruin your day, your CC is just putting on his game face.
There will be all kinds of things to do on R-Day. Dont forget to purchace your tote bag.

It's just to stagger the CC coming in. Can you imagine the chaos of 1200 CC plus their families all at once

They will have goodies to purchase like t-shirts, shorts, jackets and "the tote".
The tote bag is pretty kewl, it has all of the names for the Class of 2018. They will also have a t-shirt too. This is the only time it will be offered. Once they sell out that's it. You won't see it at A-Day

I can't tell you everything about R-Day. It will take the mystery away from you, it's something you'll have to experience. Remember every member of the Long Gray Line had to endure R-Day.
Let me say from Tug_Boat... I'm very proud you Cadet85. I am in the very very large crowd that envies you. Good Luck!!

Or will candidate A just continue learning formation, drills, marching, etc. the entire time?

Yes. Once you report to your time you'll wait in a long line. You'll go into Ike Hall with a briefing that is about 10 mins long then you get your 90 seconds. Then the crying begins, the abrupt cutting of the cord, the realization " my CC is in the Army", and all issues your CC will have must be solved on their own. Then you are escorted out for the next group to begin. You enter a large area where you can meet all the other stunned families you have meet of FB. And cry some more. Don't worry there will be plenty of dads breaking down.
The next time you see and smell your CC will be A-Day. Then they would be accepted in the Corps of Cadets
