My son is a rising HS Senior and will be applying to the Academy. He did not register in time for the summer program (we missed the deadline). Is it a problem if he didn't attend? He is a member of a CG Auxiliary platoon.

I didn't apply for AIM and still got in so I wouldn't really consider it a "problem"..I think it can only help you that you went..not hurt you that you didn't go

missing AIM

AIM is really a good chance for the student to decide if USCGA is the environment for them...so from an Admissions point of view, not attending wouldn't be an issue.

I would suggest a visit or two to the Academy sometime to get a feel for the lifestyle, because it IS different from a regular college as I am sure you are aware.

We will be visiting in a couple of weeks, but yes, we wish we had know about AIM in time to apply. Hopefully on the visit he will get a chance to talk to some students and learn more about the academy.

maybe youll see some of us swabs there running around or doing pt.

There is no problem. I didn't go to AIM, had no idea it even existed and was accepted to CGA. At the same time, there are AIMsters who go to AIM but aren't accepted to CGA.

Don't lose any sleep over it.
