Roller coaster I: Get Us (The Parents) Through Plebe Year - Class of ‘26 🎢

Congrats Plebe Parents you made it passed the first hill. I was on the Yard today and saw the Turnover parade. They looked sharp. No one fell out, one cover was left on the field with a few bayonets.

Now onto the Ac Year section. It will be full of ups and downs. Just remember to be there to support and listen. Now is time to let them figure it out.

DS, A 2nd set Detailer, Platoon Commander told me that he had a "fireside chat" with the Company Plebes yesterday. He told him his first name, where he is from, HS Information, sports, major and spent time talking with them about how to succeed at USNA. Hello Night was last night. Academic year with new challenges is ahead. Good Job from all 4 classes at Navy.

And the best part of the night was not the plebs, but the upperclass doing their ohhhs and ahhhs as the plebs did their thing on the field.

That I was not expecting but was so much fun to hear.

I was at the parade yesterday. By far better than PPW parade just more exciting. Glad to see most of the brigade together!! The ooohhh and aaaaajhh were awesome lol

I am sure this is just what Hell-o night felt like. Time for a musical interlude outside the appointment thread concert hall.

It did! My DD was tired but happy. I hope she stays in that Company. It was a night of fun and silliness. Thank you for sharing

Glad to see the turnover parade tradition of the brigade being animated has not changed! When it’s hot as heck and Plebes fall out it is pretty hysterical (not the Plebes, we don’t want them hurt, but the upperclassman response).

We had a surprise FaceTime call last night - indeed a reason to celebrate! DS had a big smile as he shared updates while folding laundry after the move. DS didn't mention much about Hell-O as there were still upper classmen popping in/out of their room and detailers circulating to return items confiscated from care packages. Plebe summer went well and ready to start the academic year!
:groupwave: (haven't been on the DoDMERB page for a few months - missing the Mullen emojis)

It took me until the 3x before I realized I had not missed some giant error out on the field by some pleb.

I missed this night , previously back in the days before Internet. I doubt I was even aware of the significance or the parade.

The kids were given a surprising town liberty for Sunday for their "good behavior," and support of the unfortunate ceremonies for the midshipmen who had passed.

We ended up throwing the not-quite-4-year-old into the car and driving down to take our plebe out to lunch and ice cream. Vida Tacos, which was fantastic. And of course, the Annapolis ice cream shop. It was packed with plebes. Short visit, but it was nice.

He's on the corner of Mother B right near Gate 1 (28th Company). Makes it really easy to pick him up and drop him off. DBIDS cards to drive on worked great. He said it has been much more chill now that AC year is coming up. Nervous about classes starting today, of course. First ProKnow is on Mid Regs this coming Friday.

Wait...what? I told my DS to save me a seat in Calc, was that wrong?

Son texted this morning and said he did the Marine PFT today. Plank, pull-ups, 3 mile run. He's still not happy with his running, but he is starting to get some of it back. Maxed the plank, 15/20 for pull-ups, 18:38 run.

(But he still doesn't want to be a Marine :p ).
Do you know if all Companies did this workout this morning? Thanks!

Those are great results, he'll get his run back, no problem. Although, that's a pretty dang good 3 mile anyway.
