I'm curious as to what type of fraternity your sons went into because that sounds like a business/academic fraternity compared to the social fraternities that my son went into. I also would like to know what part of the country that school was from because I know my son was telling me that Fraternities in the south have a much tougher pledge season, which he was able to do while still doing AROTC.

Fraternities in different parts of the country do have different personalities and are run differently. All of what Jcleppe said about his sons' fraternity in the northwest is a complete 180 from what happens down here. Not different in a bad way, just different. Pledgeship down here is a little longer/more intense then what Jcleppe seems to be describing. (Probably why fraternities down here tend to get in trouble more frequently than other parts of the country)
