ROTC at Caltech

Does anyone know about the AROTC program at Caltech? I know it is hosted at USC, but does anyone know anything about it or if it is manageable to do? Thanks!

Pasadena to USC? That's a brutal crosstown commute.

There's a train but you'd have to transfer twice, and it would take you about 1.5 hours to get from Cal Tech to the USC campus.

In the Los Angeles region, i would say the travel distance between each college (doesn't matter which) is anywhere from 1 to 1.5 hours. That includes USC (downtown LA), CSUN (Northridge San Fernand VAlley) , CSULA (past downtown) , Pepperdine (Malibu), Caltech,(Pasadena) UCLA (Westwood West LA) , Cal Lutheran (Thousand Oaks), and Loyola Marymount (Playa Vista). There are other colleges which I am sure I am missing.

USC “might” have an instrctor as caltech but in 4 yrs I haven't heard it mentioned. So you may not be able to do it without a massive investment in time and effort.

Gosh, just the thought of doing both Caltech and also dealing with a Pasadena to South L.A. commute to a cross town ROTC program is overwhelming!

If you can manage this, you can probably do anything!

Thank you everyone for your feedback! I don’t think it would be manageable, especially with being on a varsity athletic team, but I’m not ruling it out yet.

Talk to the staff at USC, I'm sure they can put you in contact with a cadet who can give you an idea of what their week looks like (how often they have to commute, what scheduling looks like, etc.).

I would try finding out, but between the drive and sports, I cant imagine you will find the time
