Same Roommate All Four Years?

Hello All,

I do not know whether or not this question has already been answered, but I couldn't find it.

Does anybody know if you keep the same roommate all four years at West Point? Could you request to switch into a room of somebody you're closer to? Please let me know.

No, Cadets do not keep the same roommates. They often change roommates each semester. They can put in requests within their company, which are considered,but not guaranteed. It’s ultimately up to their TAC officer.
 
You are more likely to have a different room mate every semester than the same for 4 years. You will have some input about who you room with within your company or section but that will be years from now.

Do you mean when you're an upperclassman?
 
As you progress you will have a little more say but keep in mind you will be rooming with your company unless you are on BN or another staff. You will not be able to room with your buddy in another company just because you want to.
 
And using roommate (singular) is not quite accurate since many rooms are 3 and sometimes 4 roommates
 
If you're female, you'll likely be with the same people more than once. My company has eight females in our class and we are broken into two four-man rooms, and I've been with one of the other cadets for both semesters.

Many of the upperclassmen do not change who they are rooming with as they are happy in their room assignments and the company leadership will respect that when making rooms. I look forward to NOT being in a four-man next year.
