SAT Essay Portion Cancelled. Will USMA still require?

At this time Admissions does not plan on waiving any writing requirement for Class of 2026 cycle. Try to get to a SAT site (even out of town) or take the ACT. You should be taking both tests anyway to see which one plays to your strengths. With test scores such an important part of the Whole Candidate Score, it is recommended candidates take both test at least 2 times.
How do you know this? I have a 1570 on the SAT already, so I didn't feel like it mattered if I took it again, unless the essay is required.

I am in FF and also sit on over 15 scholarship and/or fellowship review boards / committees across the US every year - long story. Since candidates compete against their peers, we always recommend taking both tests twice. With your score 98+ percentile, you do not really need to do that, but you still need a writing portion. Good luck.

Maybe they will want an ACT essay instead?
Our HS counselors mentioned this on a call last week. They anticipate ACT will follow SAT with phasing out the essay portion. As long as students had one decent writing score, they discouraged spending additional money to add essay to future testing registration.

Take this with a grain of salt but HS guidance counselors don't always have a service academy track in mind . . .

Ok thanks for your help. I'll try to schedule another test. Btw what is FF?

FF = Field Force... I am also a district coordinator and have been active with admissions since I was a cadet - about 40 years now. I also serve on various scholarship and fellowship review boards each year. I review many of the USMA threads periodically to try to correct misinformation, but mainly for entertainment...
