What are the lowest scores on the SAT that the USCGA will accept?
Whatever they want, depending upon how bad they want you (athlete, diversity, extra curricular, etc).
Last year DS was told minimum 650 math 650 verbal. I don't know if they stuck to that or not but that is what he was told
I know a cadet at the academy whose score is somewhere in the 1100s. Their coach worked very hard to get them in via CGAS. There is no set minimum, I believe, but it does take a lot of things lining up to get in with a far below average score. You’ve would need to have everything else in line academically/athletically/extracurricularly.
Thank you very much this was very helpful
Directly from the USCGA website:
There is no minimum test score requirement for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Successful candidates usually score at least 1100 combined Critical Reading (Verbal) and Math on the SAT, or have an ACT Composite of at least 24.
To send your scores from the testing agency, contact SAT or ACT, or list our code when you take the test. Our SAT code is 5807 and our ACT code is 0600.
