Anyone here has done an essay for a SC Senators DeMint and Graham?
DeMint request for a 1000-2000 word essay and Graham doesn't specify.

My questions:

1. Would an autobiography be appropriate, highlighting various aspects that led to my interest in the military/SA's, as long as I address the 3 points they ask for?

2. How long should the essay for Graham be? Should I call his office?

3. Anyone here willing to give some input to my essay drafts?

I am not sure what the 3 points are that the Senator wants covered in the essay, but I would recommend not writing an autobiography per se. Most MOC's request a resume or at least a listing of activities etc., so you don't want your essay to be a rehashing of "I did this and I did that so I'm interested in a service academy" or just a resume in paragraph form. If there is a particular incident or activity that really sparked your interest, then it would be appropriate to highlight that and explain the connection. Essays are really a chance to stand out from the crowd, as most of the candidates are going to have good grades/test scores, participated in sports/student gov't/scouts etc, and are obviously interested in the military. What makes you unique?

If you are unsure about the length of the essay for Senator Graham, then definitely call his service academy coordinator and see what he/she says.

Good luck!
