For those who have applied to USCGA in the past, at what point in the application process did you receive information to schedule your medical exam? TIA

It can vary. When my daughter applied EA, she received an email in November about scheduling. I believe it came from a place called Concord or something similar. From what I've read, this email also often lands in a spam folder.

Thanks for your reply! My daughter is applying EA. I will make sure she is checking in on her spam folder.

Does you medical exam and results have to be completed before the academy can offer you an appointment? Can they offer you an appointment that is conditional on passing you medical exam?

On the topic of medical exams does anyone know about how long it takes once you get their and would it be better for me to go with or without my parent.

I will be interested to hear what the response to this question is. I know that the child / applicant should be totally in charge of their application, but when it comes to medical questions I would think that is different. You wouldn't necessarily know the details of medical questions that they may ask that relate to your early years. You wouldn't want to answer a question incorrectly. I would think your parent(s) should help you answer the questions on the written forms, but I have never been through this process and these are just my thoughts.

I helped my son fill out the initial questionnaire - as you note, they don’t remember their early history. My son scheduled his appointments himself and I went to both the eye and medical exams with him. I was told I had to be there for the medical exam because he was under 18. That being said, my role once arriving was to sit in the waiting room the entire time. I was not needed at any point during either exam.

My older son is at USMA. He got his DODMERB link in early Sept and his appt was on Oct 3. He got his physical clearance within 10 days of that appt. My younger is applying to the academies this go around and he just got his DODMERB link today - Aug 17 and his appt is in 2 weeks. He is a recruited athlete so it may have pushed through a little earlier because of that?!? He has his applications complete except nominations.
