Hi all,

Does anyone know what percentage of cadets starting Army ROTC without a scholarship are ultimately able to earn a scholarship? Or does anyone know where I can go to view those stats? Thanks in advance for guidance.

From what I’ve gathered, even if those stats existed they wouldn’t have much meaning at the national scale. It will depend on the university, so I’d ask the ROO for their stats at the university level. DS’s friend didn’t get the national scholarship, but was already told he’d have a 3 year at his university after meeting with the ROO (he’s starting as a freshman this fall).

Agree with Osprey. The ROO is your best source.

Of course your BEST bet is to enroll in the program, achieve a high GPA, kill the APFT/ACFT, plus be a standout leader.

I was told I'd have a 3-year AD after this years boards as well - patiently waiting to hear. I am enrolling in ROTC no matter what - but was just curious.

Congrats and +1 to what AROTC-dad said regarding showing up prepared. Also, depending on when you heard you’d get a scholarship (good to be patient, but not too patient) and who told you that, it might be worth a follow up to the ROO to confirm and ask if there is anything else they need from you. I know my DS’s friend had to complete some paperwork. Good luck.

Thank you for the advice. I filled out some paperwork in mid May and send a follow-up email to the ROO yesterday. Thanks again!

Cadet command aims for 60-70% on scholarship. School dependent though- we are higher for example. But lots of ways to pay for college. Lots of states have free tuition for National Guard Soldiers for example.
