School Official Evaluations - what is the content?

I'd like to reach out to the teachers I am asking to complete the SOEs and let them know what will be asked of them. Will the system ask them for a letter of recommendation? Or Is there a list of questions for them to answer? Are the questions specific to the subject they taught? Or more about me as a student/person?

Also, on the PE teacher requirement. I never took PE at my high school because I'm a year-round club athlete, so none of the PE teachers at my high school know me. One of my club coaches is also a PE teacher, but not at my high school. Can he be the PE teacher who fills out this SOE?

The West Point application will send the SOE request automatically to designated teachers (that you list). Once sent, a DTG will appear in your application. When you follow up with your teachers, mention the DTG when the email message(s) went out… also let them know to check the spam box.
You don’t have visibility what went out to your teachers… it’s an automatic process.

I heard from my Admissions Representative that the following are also able to complete that "PE" SOE:
-Health Teacher
-JROTC Instructor
-Athletic Director
-CFA Administrator.
That list doesn't help me much, but maybe it'll help you.

SOE questions are about you as a student/person. There is no request for LOR.

The questions are very straightforward and are not specific to any particular coursework. They provide statements on topics such as teamwork, dedication, concern for others, etc., and the evaluator is asked to rate the candidate according to these statements on a 1 - 5 scale (strongly agree to strongly disagree). There is a comment box for comments on any rating of disagree or strongly disagree.

These questions are followed by a general question about how the candidate would do in local colleges.
