I just recived a type 1 scholarship on what i belive is a Commander scholarship. It is like #2 on my list for Civillian Colleges. He said I have till sunday to acept the scholarship. My questions are

1. If I accept this scholarship, will I no longer be eligible to get a appointment at USAFA, USCGA, or USNA?
2. If I accept, will my name be romeved from both the Space Force and Air force Hssp program boards?
3. If i decide to go to a diffrent college can i take this scholarship with me?

Hi Hopeful.

If it is indeed a CSL, then it MUST be used at the school it is being offered at.

No you do not need to remove your name from the SA pools. The caveat is that if you do go to a SA, then the CSL at the school for that semester is gone, no one else will be able to use it.

Not sure about the Space Force boards...if it is seperate, but YES, if you do accept this for the civilian school it is being offered at, you WILL be pulled from further consideration. That is why they are requesting your decision by Sunday. It would be my guess that the next boards will be soon then and they would pull your name from consideration.

I will tell you this though. The offer is legit. My DD received it last year. Less than an hour after accepting her offer from the Commander at the school, the offer showed up in WINGS.

And I don't know if it will follow you. My *thoughts* are this: possibly. My DD is in the process of changing her major from a Tech to Non-Tech (language). She did not decide this lightly. She had mutliple discussions with the unit Cadre. They in turn talked to HQ. The end result is that if it goes through (90% sure it will as HQ gave the thumbs up as did her command staff) she will lose the CSL Type 1 and it will convert to a Type 2. For us, the school is in state and less than $1000/year more than the cap.

Tough decsion, I know... the "what ifs" if you take it. Though too, remember that Type 1s are the hardest to secure.

If for some reason after I accept I decide to go to a different college, I would be allowed right. It’s not a blood oath? My scholarship just wouldn’t carry most likely

Also if I accept this, I probably will, and decide after my freshman/sophomore year that AFROTC isn’t for me, will I have to repay anything?

You have until day 1 of Sophomore year. Then you start repaying if you leave. Freshman year is pretty much a try on from my understanding.

You would then let WINGS know you declined.
