Second CFA

Good Morning,
I recently received an email saying the AFA requires a second CFA and I wondered what the reason may be when all of my scores were better or equal to the averages on the USAFA website. Are they looking for extraordinary? Do they want an updated one? Is this a good or bad sign? I would appreciate any input.

OP- it would be easier to provide input if you were to put what rubric you were using and what your scores were.

You may want to clarify the scores sent by your evaluator to USAFA. One of my students found that the evaluator had submitted the wrong score, and they were able to 'correct' the issue and avoid retaking the CFA. Work with Team Blue or Silver to clarify the numbers registered for you.

Thank you for your help,
I reached out to clarify and am awaiting a response. I decided to go ahead and schedule the second one as it is due soon. In which area do you think I need the most improvement on?
Run: 7:52
Sit Ups: 82
Push ups: 45
Shuttle Run: 9.0
Flexed arm hang: 29 sec
Basketball throw: 35 feet

As you may know, one pull-up counts more than the maximum on the flex-arm hang of 40 seconds. I have a sophomore at USAFA that could not do a pull-up for the CFA, however she could do several by BCT. I emphasize to all of my students that the CFA is not an 'end' but the start of a commitment to physical fitness as a military officer candidate. Their workout routines must be 'routine' and continue throughout the school year and summer as they prepare to arrive at the Academy, or on the college campus, ready to meet the fitness requirements for either program, USAFA or AFROTC.

It actually seems that you scored below average on basketball throw, pull-ups, and mile-run. Maybe work on those events. :) But not sure why you failed, they are just slightly below average.

With these scores, it looks like someone recorded something wrong. You should not have failed.

Ok so I retook it and my scores are as follows:
FAH: 40 sec
Push Ups: 50
Sit Ups: 95
Basketball throw: 43 feet
Shuttle Run: 9.3 sec
Mile: 8:30

I realize my mile is very slow. Would doing well on the other events balance it out? Should I expect to have to do it again?

you shouldn't have to retake it, but the running time is definitely not ideal. If you don't retake it, at least start a really good run program, and build up mileage.

I definitely will. I do cross country and soccer and unfortunately, I got sick when the deadline to do my second CFA came. So I will work back up to where I was at. I've met a girl who had a 3rd CFA request and I am hoping for that.

If you fail one part, you fail all. A 3rd CFA attempt is rare.

I submitted a mile around 8:30 and it was fine so that alone isn't a fail, the rest of my scores were similar to yours so overall you should be good
