Second NROTC officer interview?

I had my officer interview in December and was told how great it went. I completed all my other paperwork and January 11th I received a call from someone at my local recruitment office who said that her CO wanted to interview me and she believed he would offer me the scholarship. I went to the interview a week later and it was extremely informational, with the CO asking me questions about why I chose Navy, my interests, etc. At the end we filled out paperwork that he said would be sent to the board in Florida, and they would just check that I meet all the requirements (I do), then contact me about setting up my medical exam with DoDMERB (which I already have done for SA but received DQ for shoulder instability). I still have not been contacted about DoDMERB.

My confusion is if the scholarship has been offered to me or not? I don't know if others have gone to second interviews and filled out additional paperwork (mostly signing off that you acknowledge the requirements and conditions, separate from the Statement of Understanding), or what this means for my chances. Also, I thought it was the board in Florida that chose the recipients, but was it this CO who made the determination? Any insight is helpful! Thanks!

That sounds like an ISR contract interview. If it indeed is, you pretty much have the scholarship (assuming DoDMERB finds you medically qualified). Since you already had your physical exam, you can get the results forwarded to NROTC. Not sure how the waiver process works though. Best of luck!

Did he offer you a scholarship or was the form they fill out a "NROTC Four-Year Immediate Scholarship Reservation (ISR) Contract"? Something like this https://nnoa.memberclicks.net/assets/documents/nrotc-isr-contract.pdf All ISRs are contitional on approval by the selection board in Pensicola. It does seem like you have been offered a scholarship and it is just a matter of time before you get official work. Check out this thread for more information https://www.serviceacademyforums.com/index.php?threads/nrotc-isr-approval-process.51919/

Once the scholarship is processed, NROTC will request your medical info from DoDMERB and then they will start the waiver process. Best of Luck.

When my daughter and I went to the second interview, it was clear that it was to be give an ISR. The commander specifically stated that she wanted to offer this to my daughter. Then she and I had to sign an acceptance document. Did the commander ask you if you wanted to accept an ISR?

Yes, that ISR contract is exactly what it was! He didn't specifically explain what the purpose of the contract was, just made sure I understood the points I was initialing. It was just the call from the PO that indicated it was an offer of the scholarship, the CO talked mainly about what the scholarship entailed and was seeing how much I knew about it. My dad and I did sign it, so I guess I'll just keep on waiting until I hear official word! Thank you all so much for the clarification and additional info.

It took about 4 weeks for it to show up on my daughter's portal. She had to politely email the office and ask what the status was. Then it got posted. You could do the same.

Bravo Zulu

Congratulations on your ISR. My DS received one as well. In his case it took about 2 months to get the approval from the board and for his portal to update.

I also got a second interview for mine but now I'm really worried because they didn't like automatically sound like they were giving me it and I didn't do extra paperwork stuff, only for the first one, but my second one was over the phone because I live 2hrs away from the place. So do you guys think I didn't get it? I thought the decision wasn't till March. Because man this was all I wanted. I gotta make sure I got my path to the Marines all clear. Man I need this.

You can always call back and check in to make sure that all your paperwork is in and if anything else is needed. You can also ask when decisions can be expected.

I know Navy option NROTC issues ISRs, but I am not sure if NROTC Marine Option has the same program. It is quite possible that you just had an additional Marine interview, not it was not for an ISR.
