I can't believe we still haven't heard anything! It seems like on this forum there have been many more NO's than YES's. Our BGO officer keeping telling us that they are building their class, and there is a good chance for a YES still.

I hate to have false hope though.

Any thoughts?

There are definitely more rejections than acceptances and that's to be expected. The academies are all very competitive and unfortunately many talented candidates are turned down every year. If you still haven't heard back, there's still a glimmer of hope.

Of course. Why do some candidates hear so early and others have to wait until the very end?

There are so many factors and scenarios of why a candidate could hear so late or early. It could be their app took that long to review. It also could be they are on the NWL. It also could be they make the wait list. Their nomination puzzle is massive and those moving parts could be a factor. Maybe they need a medical waiver. The numbers of scenarios is endless. USNA has always stated that April 15th is their date. They don’t put that out arbitrarily. Every year there are candidates in this situation. I know the wait sucks, but if this is what you want, get ready for a career of a hurry up and wait.

So they’re starting to fill up the waitlist, huh?

What’s that mean for the ones on the left coast still going on CPR as of Friday 4/6?

Are there still a few left coast slates left to hand out before the waitlisters?

I hope so!

Notified this morning, possibly last night, we are waiting on medical clearance. DS has braces.

I have never heard of a wait list. Is USNA the only service academy which does this? How does it work?

Wait listed means you wait even longer than being CPR. DS was put on wait list last Friday. Between 70 and 120 are on this list according to the email my DS received. Won't know until 3rd week of May all the way up to maybe I-day unless they send the TWE earlier. We go ahead with plan B for now and put money down by May 1st. If they have open spots they will fill them with wait list candidates. Just need to be patient and know that it will work out in the end. DS plans on reapplying if the wait does not pan out this year.
