I was just selected for semester exchange to the Coast Guard Academy next fall. I wanted to ask y’all about what a USAFA guy should know going there for a semester. Major differences? (I’ve heard your food is better)

Obviously it is a much smaller campus at only 103 acres. There are only ~1025 cadets there total right now, which I think is less than 1/4 the number at USAFA. I don't know the student/teacher ratio at USAFA, but it is generally very low at USCGA (although some 4/c classes like calc, chem, and physics) are bigger. The size means there might be fewer clubs and sports (although you are welcome to start new clubs), but it also means you get to know a large percentage of your fellow cadets. There is an Amtrak station in New London which makes trips to Boston or New York very convenient if you have a long weekend.

Campus is on the waterfront. They have boats. Some very small with sails. One huge one with many, many sails. Some with propellers. You might spend some time on the water - a class, a team, or just for fun.
