Good Morning,

Can some one help me with what fitness test is taken at USAFA after every semester/beginning of a semester? If there is a link, that will be helpful as it will be give idea of max/min and what score is needed to pass.

This is what i found on google search, not sure if this is the one being used today. Not sure how the scoring works.

Thank you

Webguy actually has the best descriptions, plus some pictures!

More recent write up is the current Fall 2020 for fourth class, spread over several days. Look in early October 2020.

The best place for almost or recent appointees is
USAFA website
Parents tab
scroll down for links and then...
the Parents handbook and the appointee handbook (be careful, these are Class of 2024 and 2020-2021 school year, but much will likely be the similar for Class of 2025).
Look at Appointee handbook, page 26.

Notice is tells you the minimum - if you hit just the average in every element, that is just passing, and I think that is 250 points, or 50 per average in each event.

There isn't a published table of score to 100 point value, but you can sort of guess, and similar to the CFA, every inch on the long jump and every pull up is going to be larger points than 1 second on the 600 run.

To validate, you need 401+ points and about a 10:45 on the run. (Approximately).

The PFT is the most important. I'll leave it to you to go on your fact finding mission, cross referencing this info with the core curriculum (Admissions tab/core curriculum link in the center) why that is. Look at the percentage weight of PFT, PE grade, AFT, and then the overall PEA grade vs. you GPA and MPA. For you non-runners, good news! Correct me if i'm wrong, but your AFT is worth about 1.5% of your total OPA.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong on these values or interpretations.

what does validate means here with 401 score? If passing is 50 in each event ( 250 total). Does that means one with 250 will take this event every semester and someone with 401 will take this exam once every year?

@usmagirl118 , I can only tell you from a parent's perspective and the bits my DD tells me:

She validated the PFT in the Fall, so doesn't have to take it in the Spring, and it translated to a value over 3.0 which mathematically is necessary to get that PEA formula of %PFT + %PE grades + % AFT > 3.0 which is the minimum value (meaning, at least, depends on what the actual cutoff will be each semester) to make the athletic honor roll. If you don't validate, you have to take it the next semester. You will have a semester GPA, MPA, and PEA as well as cumulative for each. All are inputs into your OPA (overall) which determines class rank.

PFT scores:
Women:
Pulls Ups: 3 (50), 8 (MAX points)
Jump: 6’03” (50), 7’02” (MAX)
Sit-ups: 71 (50), 95 (MAX)
Push ups: 29 (50), 48 (MAX)
600 yd run: 2:12 (50), 1:53 (MAX)

Men:
Pulls Ups: 12 (50), 21 (MAX points)
Jump: 7’07” (50), 8’08” (MAX)
Sit-ups: 71 (50), 95 (MAX)
Push ups: 48 (50), 72 (MAX)
600 yd run: 1:53 (50), 1:35 (MAX)

need 250 points to pass, 400 to validate, 500 to max
