My son has received his nomination from his MOC, he received a DQ from dodmerb, and is now having a waiver requested for a shrimp allergy. He was diagnosed as a toddler, has never had a reaction and after speaking to an allergist, it should be considered as a minor allergy. Has ANYONE ever heard of a waiver being granted for food allergies?
I emailed Mr. Mullen, who was nice enough to forward me the "official information" on consideration for waivers. I have searched these posts (as well as the rest of the internet) and found one young lady who was denied by USAFA, but have found nothing regarding USNA. Hoping to hear from someone who has heard of a happy ending.
Thanks

Each case is reviewed on a case by case basis. A waiver for one, does NOT mean a waiver for another. So, commiserating about others experiences is NOT really helpful in waiver decisions. Two things go into go into Academy waiver decisions that are similar for all Acdemies and all applicants:

NOTE: A nomination, while required for Admission to all Academies but USCGA, does NOT have any direct effect on waiver processing.

1) Selection by the Academy Admissions office is THE trigger to start the waiver process.

2) A case by case risk assessment by the Academey medical folks of the condition, injury, illness, disease, etc; :thumb:

Thank you again Mr. Mullen, one more question... Both his primary care physician and an allergist have read the information you provided, both felt that under the guidlines he should recieve a waiver. Both also offered to write letters in his behalf stating their opinion. Is there a process to
introduce more information into the waiver process?

Thanks,

U can scan the letters as attachments and send to me email address:thumb:
