Should I be concerned for my DD? All help appreciated

We didn’t buy a thing for Beast. If DS needed anything the government wasn’t going to supply, I guess he bought it himself, no clue. For new people lurking here who may be concerned about costs, please know that your kid can show up with just the shirt on his back and be OK. Everything s/he needs will be issued. Lots of people here like to jump the gun and buy fancier things or have their own definitions of “needs,” and that’s OK, but totally not necessary. Even the $2K upfront deposit is not necessary. If a family can’t afford that, it will be deducted in increments from cadet pay. So, no worries.

Boot Memo requires all incoming Plebes to purchase 1 of 4 specified boots "prior" to beast and it is suggested they break them in before reporting to beast. Not sure if this is new as this is the first time around the block and we are complying with all stated requirements. Socks are my call- daughter is athlete so her feet are of the utmost importance to her. Also requires them to purchase shoes prior to CBT according to memo.

My guy did NOT wear the boots or low quarters we purchased prior to Beast. They do fancy foot measuring on R-Day and he got better shoes that way.

You damn near need a 2nd mortgage just for the socks they need for Beast! 10 pairs white and 10 pairs black at about $12.00 a pair, ouch!

But of course we will all happily buy them.
Where did you see 10 pairs of each as we did not see any requirements? That is steep at $12 a pair!!!

DS is AOG. They were given boot list weeks ago and have already been breaking in boots. Gotta take care of the feet!!

Pretty sure if a kid showed up with nothing, the army would find a way to supply. The kid certainly wouldn’t be turned away. I would agree that breaking in boots ahead of time might be nice, but not necessary.

No memo was sent to us. All that was our son’s call.

But back to the topic...

I believe we got the “suggested” sock list at the same time DS got approved boot list. DS is AOG and that is where the list came from.
