Should I Contact my Admissions Counselor?

I am a current candidate for 2026 and submitted my application back in November. I since have received a Senator nomination and been cleared by DoDmerb. I know the last decisions aren't released until April 15, but I was wondering if it would be appropriate for me to email my admissions counselor or BGO informing them of my continued interest in the Academy. Not much has changed on my application or resume, but I have had a few back and forth emails with my region's admission counselor (back in December) about my transcripts.

I'm starting to get concerned about not having heard anything, and although USNA is still my top choice, I am also trying to evaluate between my backup options.

TLDR - Is it appropriate to email my USNA admissions counselor stating my continued interest or the status of my application?

Thank you!

No need to email interest. They know you are interested. And your BGO does too. It’s normal to not hear anything. At some point, you will. Having all of the items checked in your portal is evidence that you are being processed properly. Not everyone who is fully qualified will receive an appointment offer.

Hang tight and be patient! And tend to alternate plans.

Concur -- there are probably a thousand applicants out there waiting to hear, and all are interested. This is a very busy time at Admissions as they build the class, and they don't need the distraction of someone "reminding" then there is still a lot of work to do. Be patient.

I did a letter of continued interest. It went well.

I reached out and wasn't able to contact him. My NJROTC instructor who is also BGO talked to him instead and learned that my grades are lacking (I already knew that lol) but other than that my application is decent. He said something along the lines of "good standing for Preparatory school" which is cool to hear but it's far from a confirmation of anything.

Reaching out kind of settled my anxiety BUT if anything it made me realize that I should stop thinking about the application process for a while. As long as they haven't said no yet, you're still good. I've been tending to the backup plans and stalking these forums, trying to enjoy the rest of senior year while I can.

After reaching out I was browsing through here a bit it put into perspective just how busy they are up there. If anything I feel bad for bothering them
