Should I update my Candidates Activities Now?

So I have my Eagle Scout Board of Review scheduled during winter break. I want to update my activities as soon as possible, so before winter break, because my school counselor will not be able to update it during the break and don't think West Point admissions will be looking at my profile during this time either. Should I update my activities record now and say that I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout?

If you do it now, will the information be true, as in the most distinct meaning of true? It is indeed a superb and worthwhile distinction to report when you are.

To educate myself, I read this:

It seems to me you must successfully pass this last hurdle before you can call yourself an Eagle Scout. Is that how you read it? Would you be “rounding up” an achievement? Either you are or you aren’t one as of this moment, and you know which you are, and you know the right people in your Scout organization to ask when you can report your status. No need to get unofficial advice from an anonymous Internet forum!

Have you approached your school counselor and respectfully asked if they would be willing to update this for you the minute you know, even during their break? If they decline, then thank them and figure you tried. Admissions will likely be lightly staffed during this period except on actual holidays, so some work will be ongoing.

Alternately, be prepared to leap on this task the minute it is practicable.

The thing is, once you obtain the rank of Eagle Scout, you are put into a national database. So if the admissions team were to check the database this week (and I'm not sure if they actually check at all), they would not find my name. Also, my counselor is really helpful, so I'm not worried about it not being updated, it's just a matter of when.

You are not an Eagle Scout until you successfully complete your BOR. I'm not sure why this is even a question. It doesn't matter if you will be one. You aren't one now. This is definitely a point of integrity which might be good for you to ponder while you wait for your Board.

Wait until you pass the Board of Review...it is during winter break and you will have time to update your status as an Eagle Scout before the admission's deadline closes. Don't stretch it. You don't need to play around with the truth...wait and update when you are done. What if they check? What if they check with the BSA or the National Association of Eagle Scouts and you are not there? Do not jeopardize yourself. Do it the right way.
