Does having a sibling positively affect a sibling's chances of admission assuming all of the right boxes are checked and fully qualified? Obviously we've been officially told it doesn't but SA's in general have to be concerned about the number of plebes (and others) dropping each year. We know several former cadets from our area who out-processed within months of arrival - understand there's no crystal ball but a sibling generally should have a more realistic view of what life as a cadet is truly like to increase the odds of success at any SA I would think.

The only thing that matters is WCS (Whole Candidate Score), and the competition in your district/state and any other categories of appointment. There are no points added for having a sibling at USMA or a parent who is a grad, although it could be a consideration in getting a nomination since MOC's can set their own criteria.

Such factors could possibly be considered for Additional Appointees, who may be selected out of Order pf Merit, but most AA's are recruited athletes, minorities, and soldiers. Not much room left for others.

However, having a sibling at USMA can be a big advantage in getting prepared for Beast and navigating the academic year.

Having a sibling at the academy does not carry weight just as being a legacy candidate does not really carry any weight. The candidate is assessed on their own merits. Having a sibling at the academy is not an indicator that the candidate is equally prepared or right for the opportunity. That being said, having a sibling at any academy definitely gives the candidate good information on what to expect and how to prepare for life at the academy.
