Sitting low on the emotional roller coaster

In the end, receiving an academy appointment is the short term goal. Commissioning is really what matters in the long run....
They are amazing because of themselves, their own hard work and initiative to blaze their own trail. And they were helped by mom, dad, sister, brother, cat, dog, and best friend, all equally worthy of renown...
My grades also aren't too shabby either. I learned that I don't necessarily need West Point or Annapolis on my diploma to be successful, that I am just fine where I ended up.

+1FMB. You are always posting useful and helpful stuff. Thank you! I think you're doing just fine. (And by the way, when DS "crash landed" at an SMC, I fully believe it was also just the right thing for him too, and that he'll succeed as an Army officer because of the fact that he is putting 100% effort into everything he is doing there.)

FMB, I agree, thank you. You wisdom resonates with what we have felt and believed through this whole process. Sometimes helps to hear it affirmed from someone right there on the path.

Me too! We should start a support group, or at least a separate thread.
To all my research junkie friends:

Last year when my son was going through this a group of 6 moms started our own support group (outside of this forum) we are from all over the country and our kids ended up all over the place. We still keep in touch -at least a couple times per week. They have all rallied around and helped giving suggestions for son number two's application. Im blessed to call them friends. There is nothing stopping you from getting a small group together.

I appreciate all the support and commiseration. I do not want to go with the "misery loves company" line but I do appreciate being normal.

My son's comment when we talked about his scores was "that ACT sucked!"

Onward!

i would suggest an email ring (list serve) that is only to your small group. eventually someone will pose a question that not everyone should be privvy to. For example, One of the navy kids in our group  could not swim and everyone had ideas for that...we also shared ideas for drink recipes, graduation parties and then of course more drink recipes...there ended up being army, navy, airforce, rotc and civilian colleges in the mix. Good luck all!
