What happens if someone on your slate denies their appointment. Does it instantly go the next ranked applicant or is it processed and then resent to selections?

It depends on when they deny it. If it’s sooner in the process, then it COULD go to the next highest WCS candidate. If it’s later in the process, USNA could already have a full class and decide not to give anymore in your district. It’s definitely not automatic. Good luck.

Assuming you are referring to the slate winner, the academy will have 3 choices:
  1. Appoint the next most fully qualified candidate from the slate to fill the MOC vacancy
  2. Choose a candidate from the slate who has already been appointed from another category to fill the MOC vacancy. This gives admissions flexibility in molding the class.
  3. Do not fill the vacancy, creating an extra vacancy for the following year. In this case, it is likely that either there are no more qualified candidates on the slate, the academy wants the space in the class for another candidate, or it is late in the process and more than anticipated have accepted appointments.
