I was recently accepted to the SLE program but I have a few questions regarding transportation.

I will need to travel by plane but the Offer Kit on the Portal does not contain any information regarding plane times, shuttle buses, etc.

Any past experience, info? Thanks :thumb:

If its like last year, then they'll give everyone the same time frame (ex: 5 am - 5 pm) to TRY to arrive by. They'll later ask for the time your plane is scheduled to arrive. There will be tons of people (candidates and cadets) at the airport. The cadets will be there with signs and chaperoning you guys the entire time. they will most likely have everyone down by the baggage claim area. shuttles arrive to pick everyone up periodically.

From memory, in past years there was information made available on shuttles. And transportation in general including instructions on how to get there if not using one of the shuttles.

If nothing surfaces in the next 2-3 weeks I'll dig out the SLS info from earlier years. Won't be current or accurate, but will give you an idea of what to expect.

Again, from memory, I think they had shuttles from Newark (NWK)

DS's situation was very complicated as he was back to back SLS->USAFA->NASS. But all three academies had excellent ground transportation lined up.

On the outbound, we had probably a dozen kids headed to USMA stuck in the airport due to bad weather.... I finally found a Airline supervisor, explained the situation, and she pulled the group aside and took care of them. And others as they wandered up.

Congrats on SLE! It's a unique opportunity.

There is no information at all? That is very interesting. Last year we had to give all of our plane info (flight number, departure and arrival time, and location) to West Point via the applicant portal. The we were shuttled (for free) from Newark International Airport to West Point. However things are going very differently this year for SLS/SLE this year so maybe they will be doing it differently.

My best advice is to email admissions and ask what is going on with transportation.
