Sleepwalking

Wanted to update so anyone that asks in the future can see our result. My son was DQ’d by DoDMERB for his sleepwalking (he was submitting for a 4 year AROTC scholarship he won in the first board....did not go for service academies once we realized sleepwalking was an issue.) He did however just receive a waiver for it, I’m assuming b/c it’s been about 18 months since his last episode. Good luck to anyone else going thru the process!

Hello, how old is your son now? When was the time he sleepwalked? He wasn't diagnosed right?
He was disqualified to do what? What can he do with his waiver?

sorry for all the questions.......

My situation: I was uncharacterized discharged with RE 4 for sleepwalking in the Marines during 911. I was 18. Now Im 36 interested in the Air Force as a Nurse. My file says my mom told them I was a child when I sleepwalked. There is no age given when I sleepwalked on the file....

Thanks.

Whew!! Now just need nomination and appointment. My son has worked so hard for this. Prayers were what helped, God is good! :)
My son is in a similar situation. Slept walk very rarely until he was around 13-14. He answered that he did sleep walk. Now he needs a waiver. Am I correct in assuming that your son got the waiver?

Ha! Just saw that. Thanks! He just visited his doctor and the doc is working on a letter explaining it was mentioned once in his file when he was 12 and the last time he reported sleep walking he was still going through puberty. Hoping for the best!

Funny question about headaches. As, who hasn't had one. My older son in the military has never had a headache in his life. My younger son gets migraines and I get the occasional headache. We each represent a point in the Ouch my head hurt spectrum

I was caught one night in HS 'sleepwalking' towards my friend's sister's room by her father. Got cured of that ailment right on the spot.

Happy to report DS has received his waiver for sleepwalking when he was younger. Mr. Mullen, thank you so much for your quick responses to all of his emailed questions, and he appreciates your sense of humor as well. :)
