SMP at an SMC?

    Hello, I'm currently exploring my options for a path to commission in the Army. I've made a few posts on the ROTC side of things but I figured pertaining to SMC's I should post here.

    1. It is my understanding that by attending and graduating from an SMC I am guaranteed active duty correct?

    2. If I participate in SMP to an SMC is that guarantee negated, or can I still opt to go Active Duty?

    I ask this because SMP is meant to be a source for Reserve Officers, but I would like to go Active Duty if at all possible.

    If the PMS so recommends- yes you will get Active Duty. Participation in SMP will not change that- unless you are on a Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty Scholarship.
    I don't know what school you are interested in attending- if VMI then I would suggest that you contact either of the people below with your specific questions.
