Hello there, it’s me again, the senior trying to get into the USNA class of 2025. I have a couple questions that need answers and I would greatly appreciate any feedback/advice!

1. Does it matter if I go to a community or a four year college?

2. Will joining an NROTC program during my one year in college help with my chances of admission?

3. In my application, should I include my transcripts for my first semester of college even if it’s not for the full semester?

4. Do I qualify for an NROTC nomination even if I’ve only been part of it for a couple months, and if so, could I apply for both a congressional and a NROTC nomination?

5. Regarding nominations, am I only limited to congressmen from my district or can I request them from the other congressmen in my state?

6. Would it be better to stay in said college for two years before applying to the academy or would my chances be relatively similar?

1. What really matters is the rigor of your schedule. Take a plebe-like schedule

2. Yes, absolutely

3. They won't take your actual college transcript until after your semester ends. They'll need your full High School transcript to start and will see your college grades after they are available

4. Absolutely - apply for both.

5. Your district's congressman and your two US Senators plus your NROTC Unit if you have one.

6. Don't wait - apply first year.

Agree with above. My son took all of these steps, and received an appointment.
However, it wasn't easy. He had to get top grades in tough classes, work to become a top-ranked Mid in his NROTC unit to earn his CO's nomination. It CAN be done. Don't give up the ship!
