Soleus Injury

About a month ago I injured my soleus while rucking. I didn't notice it until the week after, when I was running. I pushed through the pain that week, but when it kept hurting I decided to take a break from running. I haven't run on it since, and can definitely feel it getting better. I've been resting and stretching it, and expect it to be fully healed by R-Day. However, if it isn't, will West Point allow me to stay? I've heard that injured plebes are recycled to the next year or sent to the prep school, but I assume that's only for major injuries like a broken bone or torn ACL. This is just a strain or mild tear. What should my course of action be? I really want to make it through Beast.

I moved this to the DODMERB thread; however, my advice...as a mom & not as a physician (I am a PhD who studies the Military & the Military Health System--not an MD), is if you are feeling well enough to make it through R-Day (when you will carry heavy things), then you should definitely go & matriculate on time with your class. You still have 10 days to recover. Watch a video or two about R-Day on YouTube and see if this matches where you will be in your recovery.
If you are unwell/unable to lift or carry anything, then consider reaching out to your admissions officer a day or two before R-Day.
I am not sure that Mr. Mullens, whom I admire greatly, has any additional advice...
Or if we should turn it over to a FFR or Old Grad like @USMA 1994

I have been assigned to WP and clearly know what the rigors of Beast are. Technically, you should report any change of medical status to DoDMERB. In these waning moments before R-Day, there's not much utility to that. @ this juncture, your best bet is to share your detailed status with your Admissions officer (Regional Commander). You may be considered a "check on entry." :wiggle:
