Split OP and ROTC?

So I want to serve, and I plan on becoming an officer, hopefully if I can pass a DoDMERB exam because of my eyes but that's a whole different thread. So, I was curious could I go the route of Split op then contract with ROTC. I'm an incoming freshman. I would go to Basic at the end of my freshman year then AIT at the end of my Sophmore year then contract with ROTC? Is this possible? What're the pros and cons of doing this
 
With all of the as-yet unknown changes coming to summer training for AROTC, I think anyone here would be hesitant to advise you re: signing up for the Guard/Reserves as a Split OP. You would be much better off holding out until you get to school in the fall and discussing with cadre. They'll be up on all the changes and much better able to advise you of all your options.
 
Alright thanks for the input, I'll just speak with the Cadre when I go sign up for classes
