Varsity (or more commonly IC=Intercollegiate) sports at the academy are extremely time-consuming. To give a little insight, most ICs (I played tennis) have class all morning, then have practice/lifting/films etc all afternoon. For me, I usually had class until lunch then I would be at practice by 1400, hit on court from 1400-1630 and lift afterwards, not getting back for dinner till after 1830. Add in an extra half hour before and after spent in the training room for various injuries and that is over 5 hours a day. Then add in frequent travel for tournaments and matches (tennis has two seasons, fall and spring) and all the missed class involved and just not falling behind in classes takes a dedicated effort
