Squadron Assignments?

As of now, they change academic squadrons after freshman year.

During BCT:
Basic Cadet First name Last name
Squadron
PO Box ****
USAF Academy, CO 80841

After BCT:
C4C First name Last name
PO box ****
USAF Academy, CO 80841

I don't think the squadron name is as necessary after BCT, but if you did include it, you would use the academic year Cadet Squadron #. For example: CS - 07

Oh great I see thank you.

I’m looking at the instructions in the appointee booklet about the mailing address. It says to put your squadron number after their name in order to make it more accurate. As of right now we don’t know the squadron number correct? Are you saying he will get that on I-Day? How do we as parents find that out? And for those of us that are very new to this, could you write out an example of how the address should look? Want to make sure we get it right before we send it out to all family and friends.

One last thing, will my DS stay in Aggressors squadron his whole four years? I did see something about they change it up between sophomore and junior year …will he go to a completely different squadron?

Thank you!
I don’t see number mentioned, the template provided says “squadron A, B, C, D etc” on page 19

Also when mailing packages after basic, many won’t mail to a PO Box so use this to ship Amazon, etc.

How do we interpret this chart please ?

The chart is a "crosswalk" from BCT squadron & flight to the academic year squadron. For example, if your son/daughter is in Aggressors A-Flight for BCT, then they will be in Squadron 1, "Mighty Mach One" for the academic year. Another example: if they are in Executioners E-Flight, then they will be in Squadron 25, "Redeye".

First, look at the BCT squadron in the rows on the left. Then look for the BCT flight in the columns to the right. Trace the row and column to the respective academic year squadron number. Each academic year squadron has its own heritage. You can read a bit more about that at https://www.usafa.edu/military/squadrons/.

Another question…is the squadron just the letter or the name , meaning is it squadron H or squadron Hell Cats ?

They can be referred to either way. I'd refer to them first as Hell Cats.

A big part of BCT is fostering unit pride, so I second this. I know when I was in basic, I'd rather be referred to as Guts than Squadron G.

Also, for the parents out there, I believe we treat Hellcats as one word.

When addressing letters during BCT, we used the letter only, printed, not cursive. Goal was to make the sorting process easier for those handling mail.
