I know in past years USAFA has typically had a “drop date” where they uniformly release their Summer Seminar acceptance. Looking at past threads, I got the impression that it was typically March 1st. Obviously it’s March 1st and no word yet, but I was wondering if USAFA had given a time as to when they would release them? Would it be the 15th with the pre-candidate questionaire?

Will it show if we are accepted or denied when the times comes in the application portal?

DS received his SS rejection EMAIL notification from USAFA 3/2/20 (Monday)

Maybe the acceptance notifications went out on a different day. (?)

Remember, SS is not the goal. DS was rejected for both USAFA SS and WP SLE and received January Appointment offers to both places. Was invited to USNA CVW (attended Jan before Covid) and SS. Has a nomination but so far, no Appointment. 🤷🏻‍♀️

DS just checked his portal and it still says under review. Is it rolling admissions?

Wow I didn't get anything yet. My portal just says "your applications is under review". Is this a rejection or :(

No, mine says that too. It's not a rejection until it says that you were not selected. Right now, as your portal says, your application is still under review.

Apply for USNA SS too. My DS was denied USAF SS, but got to Navy and it was a great experience for him. And, they almost won him over, but in the end he went USAFA. Even though there are differences, it gave him a glimpse at Academy life and helped him make his decision to go to a SA.

DS just received today a "you have been selected to apply for the USAFA's virtual Summer Seminar" notification email from the admissions office.
Now suspect this email was generated by the Academy's admission office after the College Board released my DS's SAT scores to them. Thought it might have been some sort of secondary application to Summer Seminar. Likely not though as the portal says his original application is still under review.

Interesting that it says USAFA's virtual Summer Seminar. First I have heard of it being virtual, but I do remember them asking on the application for our preference. Does anybody know for sure if it is going to be virtual or in-person?

I don’t think anyone knows for sure, but honestly I really doubt that they’ll have it in person.

If it ends up being virtual, that is going to be far from ideal. Not saying most of us are not going to still attend virtually, but it will likely be pretty unengaging and feel like more virtual schooling. Hopefully I am wrong, would love a chance to go back to the Springs, but our world is far from ideal in the present moments.

At this rate, no way it is in person.

The Academy's email describes this year's AFA summer seminar as an "exclusive virtual recruiting event." It continues "This year Summer Seminar will have two sessions, with the first session being held from June 7th to June 10th. The second week will be from June 14th to June 17th. The event will be virtual."

Well all we can do is hope, right! Hopefully by summer things will have cooled down, but if there's one thing COVID has taught me, it's that you just can't seem to plan more than a few weeks in the future! (and planning things far into the future seems to be what USAFA does best!) Thanks for all the insights.
