DS just graduated from college at the top of his ROTC unit and participated in the Commissioning Ceremony with his peers. He found out the day of commissioning that the medical paperwork from his Lasik surgery in Dec. 2021 (that he turned in January 2022) has not been sent from Great Lakes to Pensacola where he will be doing flight training. His actual commissioning is being delayed until the paperwork is sent. The Cadre has been trying to contact Great Lakes for days with no luck getting through. DS lieutenant resubmitted the paperwork to bring it to their attention but there has been no response.
This is a Hail Mary attempt to get through to Great Lakes if anyone has a contact my DS can reach to facilitate this process. Everyone in his unit is off on their assignments, he is stuck at his University with no answers, and he is anxious to start his Navy career. Thank you.

Has he tried reverse engineering by contacting Pensacola and seeing if they have contacts at Great Lakes? His unit is pushing. Perhaps he can get Pensacola to pull.

I do not believe that anyone from NSTC watches these forums. With that said, your post indicates that Lazio paperwork which was completed over a year ago has been misplaced.

For medical records, the unit has an HRA who processes medical claims and paperwork. NSTC typically does not process that paperwork directly. You mentioned Pensacola so I am going to guess he is/was going aviation? If so, prior to his commissioning day, he would need to have undergone and completed a 2 phase aviation physical. That would have (or should have) detected any missing paperwork.

You mentioned "everyone" in the unit is on assignment......so he is there at the unit without a CO or XO? I will be nice and simply state this NEVER happens. NROTC units never completely vacate the campus.

So......I think he needs to go to his unit and ask them for a status. I just spoke to the NSTC medical rep a few days ago on one of my Mids. Something is not adding up in this story. And DS may be giving you a selectively tailored version of what is going on. A PNS does not simply abandon their Mids.

Agree with others, see if someone from your unit can contact someone down in Pensacola (NAMI, NASC, or NETC) to check on the paperwork?

The wait for flight school is super long in Pensacola right now anyways, upwards of over a year for pilots, so this probably won't affect your son too much in the long run once everything is approved.

Sorry, didn't mean to mislead.
He went to Great Lakes to have his aviation physical in February of this year. Not sure when the paperwork was discovered missing. Just know that he was told the paperwork hadn't been received by Pensacola and he can't officially commission until that happens. (We were standing with him, waiting for the commissioning ceremony to begin, when his XO told him that they are having problems with his medical records.)
His CO and XO are there and trying their best, as is the HRA. By "everyone" I meant all the other MIDN he commissioned with. He is very good at advocating for himself. Just inquired here on places he could start. Would he be able to contact the NSTC medical rep you mentioned directly?

The idea of contacting Pensacola is a great one! Any particular contact there?

Appreciate everyone's help.

The best advocate he can have is his CO. I have to think that has already happened (contacting the NSTC medical POC). If his CO's last name starts with a K then I am almost certain this is being worked as hard as it can be. Aviation physicals need to be entered into a system called AERO. So assuming the information was recently uploaded, it will need to be reviewed by an organization known as NAMI. They are busy this time of year but I am pretty sure they understand the urgency.

That should have been Lasik....... I am too far past the edit window but my auto correct error makes my eyes hurt! 😞

CO's last name doesn't start with K and told DS he will get involved at the end of the month. Don't know why the wait and very frustrated that there is no sense of urgency while DS is in limbo. We want to help but don't know if we should or how we would. The phone number the XO has been trying at NSTC doesn't get answered. DS has been told it is not a Pensecola problem, it is a NSTC problem. They just keep trying the same phone number at NSTC. DS respects the chain of command so is reluctant to make calls himself or give his XO advice.
