Hello everyone,

I am just wondering if there is anything that I can do that will better my chances.

I currently am a sophomore in the Pre-IB program, going into IB next year,(hopefully this helps). I did receive a 4.6 GPA my freshmen year, but seeing that my classes are tougher this year, it will be lower. My current classes are AP European History, Physics honors, Spanish 2, Algebra 2 Honors, and English 2 Honors. I will be taking AP US History, History of the Americas, Econ/Civics, Pre-Calc H, Calculas, Physio H, Ap Biology, Ap Physics, Chemistry, AP Spanish, Psychology and Theory of Knowledge in the next two years (may have forgotten a class or two in the list). I am looking to get into track this year, but I am not sure if that would be a good idea considering my work load. I am also in an incoming cabinet position for the Spanish Honors Society and I volunteer regularly with my church.

Please make any suggestions if you have any.

Varsity sports are very important when it comes to getting appointed to a SA, or getting a nomination for that matter. Varsity letter(s) are also recommended...track`ll definitely also help get you ready for taking the CFA too.

I see a LOT of good coming from your academics, but I`m seeing a lack of leadership. Many (majority of) candidates and appointees take full course loads as well as athletics, volunteering, leadership, etc. Academics alone really can`t make up for lack of leadership and sports.

Just my .02 from seeing the stats of candidates and appointees.

I think you should take a look at the class portrait of 2016. Especially at USMA, leadership and EC`s are especially important, from what I hear.

Thanks for the advice. Do you have any suggestions for leadership postitions that I can do.

Do whatever you like....becoming officer of a club, captain of a sports team...quality>quantity, remember that, but also remember that you shouldn`t try and get a leadership position or join something if you truly aren`t interested in that. Find something that interests you, and go from there.
