Summer Seminar Essay Character Limit

For the 3000 and 1500 max charcter for each respctive essay, does this limit include the count with spaces or is the limit for A-Z characters only?

My students use the character count with spaces in Google docs (tools). They found the first essay seems to have some 'slop' allowing for some additional characters, but it is likely best to stick to the stated limit. The second essay is 'strictly' 1500 characters as counted by Google tools. I hope that helps!

Thank you so much, I was using google docs as a place to write before then pasting my essay to the application. I was using both of those counter tools and wasn't sure which one to rely on. This cleared it up for me though.
