I received my Summer Seminar results, and I was placed on the waitlist. I was just wondering if there are usually people who don't accept their spot?
Thank you!

My son was selected to attend SS last year (albeit virtual) and he had initially been placed on the waitlist. I believe he was notified closer to the end of April. Best of luck to you!

My DS is completing his 3 degree year at the academy. Back in 2019, he was waitlisted for Summer Seminar. About a week or two later, he was offered a spot and attended. Summer Seminar is a recruitment tool. It has no bearing on getting an appointment. Of his "squad" who attended SS with him, maybe only one other actually went to the academy like him. Most of his current cadet squadmates never attended SS. As to there being others who turn down spots? Absolutely! My son applied to USNA's SS, and had to turn it down due to a lacrosse tournament being scheduled for the exact week as USNA SS.

My daughter was notified today that she was selected to attend the SS virtual session. Can you give an idea of what the virtual session looks like?

It was all day on Zoom and the USAFA tried very hard to make it interesting. They were placed in a small grouping led by a current cadet. They had classes on all the various majors available as well as the different branches within the Air Force. My son enjoyed it as it was an exposure to the Academy. They also met with the Admissions folks to discuss the admissions process (very helpful). It is really a type of recruiting tool to expose students to the academy. Although he would have much preferred to be there in person, but COVID prevented that.
If this is something your Daughter is interested in doing, then it should be a good way to gain a little insight.

When I applied for SS , I waited and waited, never got a spot or even a waitlist. I was pretty disappointed at the time but like FirstGo mentioned, it does not have much of a say for your actual appointment. I was lucky enough to be invited to Falcon Visitation Experience (FVE), which in hindsight was a much better opportunity and gave me a better look into life at USAFA (all based on my own experience and speaking with other classmates). Either way it goes, keep pushing hard for that appointment and don't let this waitlist spot eat you up!

Has anyone on the waitlist heard about getting a spot or not? They said to expect to hear from them no later than today.

I still have not received any results. No waitlist, no rejection, no acceptance. Nothing. Is anyone else having the same?

From my knowledge, there is! I think there are a lot of people who will get in off the waitlist

For those of us who haven't heard anything, can we assume that we did not get into Summer Seminar? Or is it possible that they are still moving people off of the waitlist?
