Summer Seminar

I just finished my application for SS and I'm wondering how I should contact my ALO. Should I call him or email him to introduce myself?

Sorry for posting this here, I thought this question didn't need to be its own separate thread and I felt this is a little relevant to the topic. I am also new to this forum!
:welcome1: Email is fine and give your ALO time to answer. Remember, they are volunteers and usually have full time jobs on top of ALO duties, so be patient.

Also, don't forget that they are working with the applicants for appointment right now, too...so don't get too concerned if you don't hear back in a timely manner, or at all at this point! Good luck with your endeavors!

Definitely email. Wouldn't hurt. My DS contacted his ALO a week after submitting his Summer Seminar application. Got a very friendly and helpful response the next morning. Can't guarantee all ALOs will be as responsive.

PSAT scores are finally out but this year the format and scoring is different than in years past. I wonder how he should enter them? It is now just a verbal and math score out of a 1520 total or 760 a section and then a separate scoring for the national merit selection index. Any ideas or thoughts?

I'm confused on that too. I think they give you a break down of the reading, writing, and math scores that you could enter in. This also brings the question of how the new SAT scores go with the old SAT scores because the scoring is different. I have already taken the SAT and plan on taking the new one too, but I don't know how we are going to enter in the same test but on a different scoring system.

Maybr we could put it in the SAT boxes because the PSAT boxes only let you put two number per space.

And if we just use the sub scores those are only out of 38 this year so it could look like some really bad scores.

I think I'll just put it in the SAT box. After all, it is the PSAT.

I wouldn't recommend that. The SAT and PSAT are two totally different scoring systems. The maximum on the SAT is 800 per subject. The maximum on the PSAT is 760.

So what would you recommend?

Did you take the PSAT in Oct 2014? Put those scores in where they ask for your standardized scores.

Then, in the application section, where you are stating your math, science and English grades, write a brief note stating your Oct 2015 PSAT scores.

So just to update, my son emailed admissions this morning and was told to enter the scores by dropping the trailing zero. And I guess leaving the writing score blank. But I just saw a post on the Academy Admissions facebook page that said to email them the PSAT scores separately, then when I went to confirm the email address it changed again and said to update the scores in the academic narrative portion so they can update the file. They also said the scores are not necessary.

My son e-mailed USAFA about the PSAT scores. He was told to email them in separately and to put them in the Academic narrative section of the application where he listed his high school courses.

In my application for the portion that said PSAT scores it told me to take of the zeroes and leave the writing part blank and so i did but should I also type them in where it says Academics AND email the academy separately? And if so what email do I use to send my scores? Thanks!

I filled it in in the Academic narative and emailed my scores separately as well.

I went to contact us on the admissions website and scrolled all the way down. There should be an email there.
