As the summer seminar application approaches, I was thinking about the essay. I was wondering if submitting the same essay to all three summer camps (USNA, USMA, UAFA) would be acceptable? The reason I would is because I don't know which academy I am 100% interested in so my opinions on the three would not vary in my essay.

When I applied to the USMA summer seminar, there was not an essay required. An essay was something that USNA required, though--I did not apply to NASS, but one of my good friends did and wound up going. She loved it! I am not sure what the prompt was, and I would not tell you if I knew because I am not sure if it would be a breech of my honor or it is public knowledge. That being said, it might be public knowledge, so do some research about the NAPS essay online. The same friend of mine attended the USAFA tennis camp over the summer. She said the campus was pretty, but she never wanted to be an AF officer and the altitude was NOT for her! This is why the summer seminars are great for candidates! They allow you to decide whether or not if the school is for you. Make sure on top of the summer seminars, visit the schools during the school year. The cadets you shadow show you more sides of the school. An overnight visit to West Point is what showed me that USMA is the perfect school for me.

But, to answer your question, submitting the same essay to the AFASS and NASS would depend on how similar their prompts are and how heavily you are interested in both. I'd say if you have a lot of interest and you think the essay is pretty good, go ahead and uses pieces of one essay for another purpose, but not the whole thing.

    SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

You should also be applying to your local Boys State program around now. Make sure that is DONE, and plan your seminar(s) AROUND the dates of Boys State! If you wanted to go to two seminars and got accepted to both, but Boys state takes place during the same week, go to BOYS STATE INSTEAD and plan on visiting that school later!

Don't be discouraged if you don't get in! I was rejected from USMA's SLE. West Point's website says about 400 of the 1000 kids to attend SLE are ultimately accepted into the school...which leaves about 850 slots for high school students, college students, international kids, and combat veterans who didn't show up to the seminar. I did not give up an instead searched for ways to improve my file. Wound up doing very well at my Girls State program and advancing to Girls Nation on a scholarship paid for by the American Legion. I raised the bar for my ACT and studied hard with a tutor I was very fortunate to have. My parents said he was an "investment." Got my score up to a 33! USMA Admissions sent me an LOA shortly before my medical waiver came through, and I got my nomination less than two weeks later. YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO TO A SUMMER SEMINAR TO BE A STRONG CANDIDATE! Just let failure be your teacher instead of what makes you quit!

    Good luck (and go Army!)
I hope you find what you're looking for at a Service Academy!

While you may use the same basic theme, but since each academy has a unique mission, each essay should address your draw/connection to each of these individual institutions.

I merged your three threads into one since they are all the same identical question.

Thank you! I felt redundant sending it in three separate groups so I appreciate that.
