Does anybody have a packing list for Swab Summer 2022? DD hasn’t received any info on this yet. She found a list from the Cadet Handbook 2021. Is it safe to assume the items will be the same? Thank you.

Remember - if it's not on the list - don't pack it!

The exception to this is if there is something medical related that has been approved, such as shin sleeves (compression sleeves) for those who have a history of stress fractures or shin splints, custom fitted insoles (for example for high arches), supplements like iron or calcium that have been doctor recommended, removable retainers worn at night if your child wears those, and perhaps a few other things.

Also, this will be on the list, but if you don't have it yet, remember that if your child wears contacts they will not have time to bother with those during swab summer. They should plan to arrive to swab summer with 2 pair of their prescription glasses instead of contacts. Many kids are so used to wearing contacts that they likely only have 1 spare pair of glasses at most, so you might have to get a second pair. Recommend you get a sturdier pair just in case since they will be quite active. Better to have them and not need them.

There are a million threads on this and a lot of tips that come out once the list is published. It doesn't change much, but why worry about this yet? There's very little you'll need that you can't get at Target: properly fit running shoes (broken in) and your favorite sports bras and compression shorts maybe. The rest is pretty pedestrian stuff. If you have a daughter she should spend more time learning a quick and sturdy bun.

I remember getting keyed up about this too, but in retrospect it's more tension release than anything else. Enjoy your time together, you're down to ten weeks.

Thank you! We need to get an appointment for this.

What about sports equipment for those trying out for fall sports? I didn't see that on the list. Seems like they would need to pack that in June, as well.

Last summer when my daughter reported, she was able to bring her softball glove and leave it with a coach in the coaches office before swab summer started. Your son/daughter can likely communicate with the coach for this kind of information.

You can drop off or mail gear directly to the coaches to hold. Contact the coach.

His coach told him weeks ago to pack training gear separately and give to him before anything else so that is his plan.

They have a pretty small staff at USCGA and they are in Finals week now, cutting orders for summer travel for the corps, and getting ready to graduate a class, so a lot going on. The last five years the packing list has been pretty much the same and you said in your first post you have the 2021 cadet handbook that includes the packing list. In the military, all things come in good time.

I know right now, getting the list is one of the few things you can do to help prepare to go, but the updated cadet 2022 handbook will be posted shortly. None of the items on the list are difficult to obtain.

Hang in there and congratulations on your appointment.

We are doing a few things to prepare while we wait:
1. Getting passport
2. Setting up checking account with Navy Fed Credit Union
3. Getting all required vaccinations

The packing list is less of a concern that the forms that are required by June 1. Currently the forms posted online are for the Class of 2025.
