Systolic Murmur DQ?

Hello, I was diagnosed with a systolic murmur when I was 12 years old at a sports physical. I had an echocardiogram done that confirmed it a week after as well. I was told that it was mild and an innocent murmur. I was cleared to play contact sports and haven’t had any trouble. I haven’t had any medical treatment because of it. No one had heard it since in the 4 or 5 sports physicals I’ve had. My question is will I be DQ for ARTOC because of this condition? If so what are the chances of a waiver? Thank you for your time.

I just responded to a similar post about a different condition. It looks like you are already a candidate and have completed the application process. I am assuming that you filled out the questionnaire truthfully. If you answered yes to any question related to the described condition, I would expect you to get some questions. Nothing you can do now, your DoDMERB process will start once you are selected to receive a scholarship. In the mean time, read as much as you can on the DoDMERB process and prepare for the journey.

Murmurs are abnormal. An echocardiogram is ordered when heard on exam or there’s a history, to determine “if” the murmur is abnormal for that specific applicant or is abnormal variant.

That is a general premise. Each is evaluated indeed a case by case basis.

Hit “Questions about the process.”
Paragraphs 11-21 discuss the waiver process.
