Take SATs instead of retake ACTs

okay so I applied for 2020, and I received a TWE in early April. My act scores are fine 34 math 35 english. Honestly, if I studied and retook them odds are good I make a careless mistake and don't go up. Would it look good to take the SAT to show persistence or would it be null and void?
 
Different people do better on one of the two tests over the other. My DS has a twin sister. He aced the SAT and did just above avg on the ACT. His sister did the opposite. You have nothing to lose. You don't even have to submit them if you don't like them.
 
Honestly with a 34 and 35 (out of 36) I'd call it a day and focus on other things--like getting As in more difficult college coursework. I agree with your testing assessment. Once you hit as high as you have, there is about a 1-2 missed questions separation from a 36 score (and there does always seem to be that one ridiculous question or stupid mistake). So, if you have the time...go for it. But I'd say you're golden from an ACT perspective and your time and effort may be better spent strengthening another aspect of your candidate profile.
 
Since my son received the rejection for USNA, he has decided to go SUNY Maritime where he was accepted into the mechanical engineering program. He is going to join the NROTC unit. He will be reapplying to USNA next year. His SAT scores could use improvement, but since he will be in college, is it necessary for him to retake them or is the focus more on his college grades? Thanks.
