Has anyone that is a non-auto admit received an acceptance to TAMU? I applied early-action engineering so when do acceptances/ deferral back to regular timeline come out?

Thanks,

My son received his non-auto admit to TAMU Engineering back in September after applying in the middle of August. He's a homeschooler so no class ranking but TAMU classified him as Top 25%.

Thanks for the info, I applied early-to mid September. I'm a holistic review applicant because the class ranking at my school is very competitive(I have a 3.85 probably higher now and I only barely squeezed in top 40%, my school doesn't share class rankings to college anyways so it's fine). Not complaining just the reality of my situation. Congrats to your son! I just want to receive a decision lol. I've been seeing "My App Is Complete And In Review" for 86 days now! Patience is a virtue haha.

I know it is hard to be patient. From what I understand, they clear the Top 25% first and then move onto the 2nd quartile. How are your test scores? That can definitely help when you have a competitive class. Blinn TEAM is also a great option but I don't think those go out until spring. We have several friends who are waiting and it has been tough!

From what I read, test scores at A&M -- and I'd guess doubly so for engineering -- are important. If you haven't already, bookmark this page (below). It is very active and has great info on A&M admissions. If your school didn't give a rank to A&M, then A&M assigned one, usually by quartile. You should check in your dashboard what they assigned for you.

To answer your question, my HS senior son was not AA and was admitted about three weeks after he applied. But he did not apply for engineering and was assigned top 25% by them with a strong SAT/ACT that put him in the old "academic admit" category, which does seem to get priority in terms of quick review.

Wasn't the old academic admit score 1350? My ds was using that as his goal when applying to TAMU's engineering program. His ended up higher than that and got admitted quickly.

Both UT and TAMU are going back to test required next year and we haven't had any trouble getting test dates here in TX so I think you are right that test scores are important this year as well. I do know that low math scores on the SAT/ACT and/or lack of rigor in math can keep even auto admitted students out of the engineering program.

It was 1360 with at least 620 math and 660 EBRW (or 30 ACT with at least 27 math and 27 English) combined with top 25%. That got academic admission to the university, but Engineering still did a holistic review on top of that.

I don't see where you can check your rank. Which dashboard? In the TAMU AIS or Howdy Portal?

Thanks,
